Morel glasses

Morel's story comes from a family that has been making eyeglasses for four generations. Each generation learned from the previous one and added its own entrepreneurial vision.

Passion and knowledge

As an independent family business, Morel is committed to passing on its passion through a free, bold, and dedicated vision. For four generations, our company, located in the heart of the Haut-Jura nature park, the cradle of French eyewear, has been creating millions of pairs of glasses. For over 140 years, their heritage, passion, and expertise in eyewear have set the standard for fashion trends in optics. They demand the best from their own products; all their creations are the result of meticulous work in design, production, and the choice of materials they use. Independent and atypical, their design center develops exceptional eyewear that reveals the uniqueness of each person.

Morel's creativity can be seen in every detail. New collections are created in the brand's own design center, where artistic directors, designers, and specialists in color, graphics, and prototyping work together as a team of experts who believe that no challenge is beyond them! That's why the brand, once a pioneer, has surprised the market by using atypical and innovative materials and know-how: carbon, wood, and more recently leather and 3D printing.

The history of Morel is a history of people. It is, of course, a family with a passion, but one that has managed to bring together multiple talents and personalities. Today, 280 people work for Morel. The team consists of almost 10 different areas of expertise, from design to production and from commercial, logistics, and administrative. Morel has a complete and complementary team that provides a turnkey offering: from the initial design to the end customer.

MOREL

The "MOREL" collection is their promise of comfort. It combines the former KOALI, LIGHTEC, and ÖGA lines into a single range. This carefully curated series of frames embodies their expertise and offers a wide variety of styles through three different aesthetics.

The first offers ultra-feminine models with bold, colorful, and glittering shapes. They evoke Morel's taste for fashion and appreciation for today's top trends. The second, more masculine offering celebrates minimalism at its highest level and provides lightness and maximum comfort. The latter aesthetic embodies Morel's perfectionist nature and the innovation of their brand in terms of pure design. It relies on frames with particularly complex and detailed finishes for exceptional results.

A strong technical identity characterizes this collection. Each frame is equipped with patented screwless, solderless hinge technology for unparalleled comfort.

Marius MOREL

The "Marius MOREL" collection celebrates their century-old heritage and promises authenticity. The collection replaces the old collection from 1880 and is a faithful replica of the iconic models that made Morel famous in the 1950s. More than simple replicas of past successes, the frames have been adapted to current standards for comfort, production, and materials used. By combining eyewear tradition and technical expertise, Morel rediscovers the genius of the past and adds its modern know-how.

M

The "M" collection embodies the promise of creative accessibility by bringing together the former Marius and Nomad collections. It offers discreet and distinguished frames with classic shapes, surprising color combinations, and stylistic twists. This collection is available in a wide range of sizes (from XS to XL) and meets individual needs while remaining affordable.

The "M" collection offers carefully crafted and original products without compromising on budget: a treat at a lower price.

Morel Azur

Over the years, Morel has designed many collections of iconic sunglasses, which have served as inspiration for the new Azur sunglasses collection. The name Azur is inspired by the French Riviera. The Azur collection is refined and elegant, while also offering comfort and the right protection. The beautiful details reflect Morel's expertise.

MOREL by Jean Nouvel

MOREL and Jean Nouvel explore a new combination of materials. These combined glasses are as surprising as they are exceptional, offering a highly technical product. A metal structure reveals a flat titanium "drageoir" that delicately inserts a thin circle of colored acetate.

Like the finest goldsmiths, the extremely fine translucent acetate resembles crystal, while the matte acetate is reminiscent of pure granite. This model skillfully combines the minimalist spirit of Jean Nouvel's design with MOREL's expertise in eyewear craftsmanship to create an exceptional product without compromise. The frame has a straight, open bridge that protrudes beyond the face for a structured, architecturally inspired look. The metal frame arms are slim and straight for a structured frame right down to the end of the sleeve. The acetate arms are more imposing, with a visible edge due to their transparency.

The history of Morel

In 1880, Jules Morel followed the seasons and lived in harmony with nature: from farming in the spring and summer to making frames in the winter. This is how the precursor to eyeglass frames, the "pince-nez" (literally translated as "nose clip"), came into being.

Jules, a pioneer in his time, was one of the first to start his own eyewear business at the young age of 25. Humble and honest, he strove to create quality frames out of his love for craftsmanship. Proud of his heritage, he divided his time between his appreciation for nature and his passion for designing eyewear. For over 140 years, the Morel company has continued the family tradition. Equally passionate about quality craftsmanship and respect for their homeland, the company devotes its expertise to designing and distributing iconic frames around the world.

With an eye to the future, the fourth generation of the Morel family is striving to develop a socially responsible and collaborative culture, faithful to the passion and values of Jules Morel.
